HCFCs and CFCs are a class of inert compounds of carbon, chlorine, and fluorine. They are quite useful for many applications. But the inertness of HCFCs has an environmental effect because of the presence of chlorine, causing ozone-layer depletion. However, due to the presence of hydrogen, they are more reactive and less environmentally degrading than CFCs.
