To examine the role of Ste5 phosphorylation on the release of Fus3, researchers created a yeast strain with the ptc1 gene deleted (ptcl∆). They then measured the amount of binding between Fus3 and Ste5 in cells of this strain and in wild-type cells as they added increasing concentrations of α factor. Their results are shown in the graph that follows. Use the graph to evaluate how the phosphorylation status of Ste5 affects its ability to release Fus3.
