Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

A linear TOF mass spectrometer needs to be compared with an orthogonal TOF instrument. The advantages and limitations of the two geometries needs to be determined.

Concept introduction:

The measurement of time which is taken by a wave, object, or particle to travel the given distance with the help of a medium is called time-of-flight. Time-of-flight mass spectrometry is a technique, which helps in determining the ratio of mass-to-charge of an ion with the help of time-of-flight measurements.
