The heat required for vaporization process in which water changes from liquid state to vapor state is known as heat of vaporization and when it changes from solid to liquid, the heat required is known as heat of fusion. The heat is required in changing the phase of water from solid to liquid or from liquid to vapor. Thus, when the water changes its state from vapor to liquid the heat is released, and the value is negative to that of heat of vaporization.
