Introduction:
In mammals that have placenta, there is a connection or conduit that extends between the placenta and the fetus. This is known as the umbilical cord. This is a part of the fetus and contains two arteries and a vein. Since the arteries and veins carry oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, they create a certain amount of pressure, which is represented as PO2 and PCO2.
