Chapter 10, Problem 59E
Program Plan Intro

Paged memory management:

Paged memory management technique is to partition the main memory into a set of small fixed-sized blocks called as frames.

Logical address of paged memory management:

  • The logical address in paged memory management begins as a single integer value.
  • The logical address is written in the format of <page, offset>.
  • Page number is got by the number of times the page size divides the address, and offset is remainder of the division.
  • The given logical address in a paged memory management system is <2, 133>.
    • From this given data, the value “2” represents the page number and the value “133” represents offset.
    • The above value means the “133” bytes on page “2” of the process.

Physical address of paged memory format:

  • To produce a physical address, the frame number in which a page is stored should be found out.
  • Then, the frame number should be multiplied with the frame size.
  • The multiplied value should be added with offset value to produce physical address.

The formula to bind logical address to the physical address is,

Physical address = Frame number * Frame size + Offset value        (1)

The following table is given table with specific page number and frame that the page belongs,
