The function of a neurotransmitter.
Introduction:
The chemical substances or agents that are secreted at the end of the axons of the nerve cells are known as neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are the chemicals responsible for the transmission of a nerve impulse through the synapse. These neurotransmitters diffuse across the synaptic gap and transfer the information to the adjoining cell. The transmission of the information is done by the alteration of the electrical state of the adjoining cells.
