Social media can be amazingly effective because they tap networks of friendships and relationships (Wallace, 2020). They can target specific markets where groups of people may be more interested in their products. Networking sites can send ads to people whose interests have been seen as someone who would like to purchase certain products. A person who creates a profile on a networking site adds what they are interested in and what things they like. Based on that information ads are sent to them that are similar to their interest, hobbies, or activities.
