Partial pressure refers to the amount of pressure that is exerted by a particular gas present in the mixture in case it occupies the same volume on its own. It is basically the hypothetical pressure of that particular gas. In lungs, the partial pressure of the O2 (oxygen) is about 100 mm Hg.
