Time required for the particles to heat up is to be determined.

Concept Introduction:

The fundamental concept of unsteady state in spherical particles is used to determine the time required for effective heat transfer. It is assumed that the particle is colder and heat transfers from hot air towards the particle. However, the effective heat transfer occurs only on the external film of air surrounding the particle. In such cases, and assuming equilibrium, the convective heat lost from air is the conductive heat gained by the particle.
