Introduction:

The cells which can develop into many different types of cells are called stem cells. Cell potency is the ability of a cell to differentiate into specialized cell types. Based on the number of types of cells, cells which differentiate into stem cells are classified as totipotent cells, pluripotent cells, and multipotent cells.
