The Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) is an important tool for not-for-profit hospitals to understand the health needs of the communities they serve. In response to a request from the Vice-President for Population Health, this research evaluated four commonly used planning models for conducting CHNAs: the Community Health Assessment Toolkit developed by the Association for Community Health Improvement, the Catholic Health Association model, the Mobilizing through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) model developed by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), and the State Health Improvement Planning Guidance and Resources developed by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO).
