Mechanisms of multi-substrate enzyme catalyzed reactions
There are three major reaction mechanisms seen with enzymes that catalyze a reaction involving 2 substrates and results in the release of 2 products. They are;
- Ordered Sequential
- Random Sequential
- Ping Pong or Double-Displacement reaction
Here, the substrates are S1 & S2 , while the products formed are P1 and P2. We will represent the enzyme as 'E'.
