with creative freedom illustarte the events of resting potential, depolirization and repolirisation of an axon membrane.
Resting membrane potential is electrical potential difference across the membrane when the cell is in a non-excited state that is in resting state. Its value is -70mV.
Inside of the Membrane is more negative than outside environment because of more permeability of potassium ions and sodium channels are closed at resting state.
Depolarisation : membrane becomes more positive , -55 mV threshold ,change in +15 mv for depolarisation .When an impulse arrives and reaches the threshold potential limit ,voltage gated sodium channels open and influx of sodium causes depolarisation of the segment of the membrane.
Repolarisation: to bring back negative membrane potential from depolarized state. Decrease in membrane potential due to efflux ( movement out of the cell) potassium ions to attain negative potential from a positive potential value.
