We are living in a period of political ferocity and deepening cultural divisions. However, if there is one point on which practically everyone agrees, it is that the news and information we receive is accurate gradually becoming prejudiced. Every day, someone complains about bias in a variety of contexts, ranging from the most recent film reviews to sports commentary on CNN, BBC, or for that matter, INDIA TODAY's coverage of the country's most significant news. These grievances and debates consume an increasing amount of timeshare of public debate.
We can probably all pinpoint ourselves on this map between the active citizen's curiosity and the poisonous cynicism inherent in the milieu of denial in which we live. The question is whether or not this thinking benefits us, either individually or as a group! Likewise, should the government require to prohibit all media-sponsored talk shows and debates politicians or those pursuing a political agenda/communists or groups an opportunity for those who are opposed to the ruling administrations to disseminate to the electorate, chaos, and misinformation.
