(b)
Why auto temperature compensation is must for an online pH analyzer? What type of temperature element is being used for the same?

Expert Solution
Step 1

When the pH measurement is done, there are two kinds of temperature compensation taken into account. The two kinds of temperature compensation are,

1) Automatic temperature compensation

2) Solution temperature compensation

Step 2

The requirement for the auto temperature compensation in online pH analyzer is that it enhances the accuracy and also maintains the electrode in calibration irrespective of the temperature. During the time of calibration, the exact temperature of the buffer is read by the auto temperature compensation and the correct value, which is exact is also assigned by the auto temperature compensation. At the time of testing, the exact temperature of the sample is read by the auto temperature compensation and the slope could be adjust to carry on collaboration.

In simple words, auto temperature compensation enhances the accuracy, decreases (or) removes the requirement of strict control of temperature for samples as well as buffers.

If auto temperature compensation is not used in online pH analyzer, there would be incorrect buffer values at the time of calibration, and slope value could be wrong for calibration and the accuracy for the results of samples would be less.
