Why are pump characteristic curves important in pressure filtration?
In pressure filtration, the pressure filter contains a round shaped container along with the filter material. It also consists of a pump which pressures the water through the filter and then the bacteria removes the dirt in the water and the clean water is discharged by the pump.
A pump is a hydraulic machine which changes mechanical energy into hydraulic energy. It generates fluid flow with sufficient power to overcome the pressure due to the load. Understand that in any application, it is desired that the pump should operate with a good efficiency and should provide the desired flow rate. To analyse and track the performance of the pump, the head and the flow rate of the pump are analysed along with a few other important parameters and are plotted against the flow rate as the pump characteristic curves.
