DC machine losses -
Mechanical energy is transformed into electrical energy in a DC machine. The complete input power is not converted into output power throughout this operation. Some of the input power is dissipated in various ways.
The nature of this loss may differ from one machine to the next. These losses cause the machine's temperature to increase, reducing the machine's efficiency.
All practical DC machines do not operate at 100% efficiency; there must be some losses in the machine.
