In 1808 the great philosopher john Dalton gave the atomic theory. According to them atom is indivisible and neutral. Since Dalton was great philosopher, hence theory remain unopposed fir about we 100 years. Micheal Faraday (1791 - 1867) performed an experiment to carry out the chemical reaction by using charge. He noticed that atom have charge because by passing some fixed amount of charge some fixed mass of the chemical deposited. Latter on the J.J. Thomson performed the cathode ray tube experiment and discovered electron. Rutherford discovered proton and Chadwick discovered neutron.
