The distribution system plays an economic and social role in achieving marketing and economic objectives. Distribution refers to the process of delivery of goods to the customer's end. The distribution process includes completion of the orders, delivery of the products to the warehouse, and finally to the customer.  There are two types of distribution processes which are described below. 

1) Direct distribution 

In the direct distribution process, the products are directly delivered to the customer's end form the manufacturing unit.

2) Indirect Distribution 

In the indirect distribution process, the products are delivered to the customer's end through some intermediary. 

The distribution channels are made up of different modes of transport such as roads, air, and water.
