What is the difference between an experiment and a quasi-experiment? Give an example of an experiment, then change aspects of that experiment so it becomes a quasi-experiment.

An experiment is simply when we try to establish a cause and effect relationship between two or more variables by putting a hypothesis to test. Here, we have an independent variable which is manipulated by the researcher and a dependent variable on which we can observe the effects of the independent variable.
However, in a quasi-experiment, we tend to select variables from the natural environment, which is outside the laboratory only because we can not manipulate certain variables in a laboratory setting. Hence, the control and experimental groups are selected from the natural environment, from where they already exist.
