The brain controls thoughts, memory, speech, motor movements, and bodily functions. There are many parts of the brain, and each section has a specific role to play in the human body.

Four lobes make up the brain:

  1. The frontal lobe - the largest lobes, is responsible for motor skills, such as voluntary movement, language, and intellectual and behavioral functions. This area controls memory, intelligence, concentration, anger and personality.
  2. The temporal lobe - located on each side of the brain at ear level, is important for hearing, memory, and speech.
  3. The Parietal lobe - the center of the brain, is where sensory information such as temperature, pressure and pain is located and interpreted.
  4. Occipital lobe - located at the back of the brain, mainly for vision.

Brain lesions are a type of injury to any part of the brain. The sores can be caused by disease, trauma or birth defects. Sometimes sores appear on a part of the brain. In some cases, ulcers are present in a large portion of the brain tissue. Initially, brain lesions may not produce symptoms. As the lesions get worse over time, the symptoms become more noticeable.
