The Catholic Church is a continuation of the early Christian ethnic group established by Jesus' disciples. At the end of the second century, the dioceses began to gather in the provincial councils. By the third 100 years, the Diocese of Rome began to be a place of charm.
In 313, Constantine the Great legalized Christianity, leading to the establishment of the Early Church. Individuals give a tenth of their profits to the congregation as a tithe. During the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church became incredibly rich and powerful. Since the congregation was viewed as autonomous, they didn't need to pay the lord any duty for their territory.
