Expert Solution
Step 1 Introduction

Emile Durkheim was a French Sociologist and philosopher. He is considered to be one of the founding fathers of sociology. Before using his theory of social integration it is important to understand this theory in a brief manner. His theory of social integration is based on collectivism. It seeks to explain in the nature and purpose of social structures and how they are maintained. It explains that individuals are interdependent and that their collective actions are necessary for society to function. The theory holds that in order for society to be stable, its members must be connected by shared values, beliefs, and norms. Durkheim argued that the degree of social integration within a society is determined by the extent to which its members are integrated and dependent upon each other. He posited that a high degree of social integration is necessary for a strong and cohesive society, while a low degree of integration leads to anomie (normlessness) which he argued lead to social unrest and chaos.
