“Since this man entered my home and robbed and assaulted us, I have not been able to rest properly. My family and I are constantly scared that maybe one of his companions may attack us or try to avenge their friend’s arrest. He did not just take our money; he took our happiness and contentment with him. We have never been able to relax ever since. This man knocked at our door to make a phone call saying that his phone had died. We agreed to let him in, but his friends entered behind him. They had knives and other weapons and intended to rob us. When My father, mother and I tried to struggle, they tore my clothes in front of my parents. I have not been able to meet my father’s eye since then. Since that day, my father and I have been avoiding each other. He feels ashamed that he was not able to protect my mother and me, and I am embarrassed that I was in an unseemly condition in front of him. We have not been in the same room since that day. He did not just rob our money; he robbed us of our joy. I don’t know when my family’s smile will be back, but I hope that he does not get the chance to take anyone else’s away.”
