Hello, I am writing an English paper on rhetoric analysis of The Gettysburg address and The 2nd Inaugural address. I have read both over and over and am still not 100% convinced that I have identified the differences correctly. The major differences I see between the two is that there is a greater appeal to ethos- God in the Second Inaguaral Address when compared to the Gettysburg address. Additionally, Lincoln directly states that slavery was the cause of the Civil War in the Second Inaugural address. Am I looking at these speeches correctly or am I missing something?
