1. What are the reasons for increased lipolysis and also how albumin level can be used as an indicator for lipolysis

Expert Solution
Step 1

Fats and oils can be together called as lipids because they contain the fatty acids. These are one of the major macromolecules our body needs. Our bodies cannot produce the fatty acids by itself so we have to provide form the dietary supplements. Fats and oils are present in meat products and nuts etc.

Fats or lipids are stored in our body in cells called adipocytes in adipose tissue, it helps in cushning of internal organs and helps to insulate our body.

Step 2

Lipolysis is the breaking of the stored fatty acids for the production of energy. It is increased due to the exercise and starvation.

  1. During exercise due to the muscles produces lactate to generate ATP, which initiates oxygen delivery to that area to bring back the muscle to normal state from the fatigue. The glucose present in the blood is consumed and so the next energy source fat is used to generate ATP in the body.
  2. Our body uses energy in the form of glucose to produce ATP. during fasting or starving the stores of glucose and glycogen are uses within few hours. later the body starts using the storage units of fats in adipose tissue by lipolysis and later proteins in the muscle
