Gene Interactions
When the expression of a single trait is influenced by two or more different non-allelic genes, it is termed as genetic interaction. According to Mendel's law of inheritance, each gene functions in its own way and does not depend on the function of another gene, i.e., a single gene controls each of seven characteristics considered, but the complex contribution of many different genes determine many traits of an organism.
Gene Expression
Gene expression is a process by which the instructions present in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) are converted into useful molecules such as proteins, and functional messenger ribonucleic (mRNA) molecules in the case of non-protein-coding genes.
The enzymes DNA polymerase in E.coli is a DNA dependent polymerace and also has the ability to proof-read the DNA strand being synthesised?
DNA replication is the semiconservative process. The DNA polymerase is the main replicative enzymes in the prokaryotic DNA replication. DNA polymerase III is made up of 10 subunits, together called Holoenzyme. the main function of this enzyme is to extend a strand of DNA by adding nucleotides. DNA polymerase III adds the nucleotides by speed,1000 nt / sec. The fidelity of the enzyme is 105 nt/1mistek.
This enzyme shows 5' to 3' polymerization activity, which means it adds the nucleotide from 5' end of the DNA
