Expert Solution
Step 1

DC motor

A DC motor is an electric machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. DC motors use direct current to convert electrical energy into mechanical rotation.

Armature; It is a rectangular iron core wrapped in a copper coil through which electricity runs, and it receives a force and rotates owing to the magnetic field. Brushes: A brush is a device that carries current between fixed wires and moving elements, most typically in a spinning shaft.

The armature of a DC motor is made up of coils of wire arranged in slots on a ferromagnetic cylinder. The armature is free to revolve and is positioned on bearings. It is placed in a magnetic field created by permanent magnets or current flowing via wire coils known as field coils.

To reduce eddy current and hysteresis losses, the armature core is composed of silicon steel laminations. It supports the armature winding mechanically by holding it in place. It is made up of teeth and slots that house the winding. It gives the primary field flux a low-reluctance path.
