Introduction

A. Homeostasis: An organisms ability to regulate physiological processes in order to maintain equilibrium and stability is called Homeostasis. With respect to psychology, Homeostasis is the balance of needs and desires.

B. General adaptation syndrome: A three stage adaptation process to stress which consists of (1) Alarm state, (2) Resistance stage, and (3) Exhaustion stage.

C. Misattribution of arousal: A theory related to the two factor theory of emotion that states how error in cognitive labeling can cause misattribution of physiological arousal to give rise to a different emotion.

D. Self- serving bias: A tendency of a person to attribute positive events to themselves and negative events to external sources.

E. Yerkes-Dodson law of arousal: A theory that suggests relationship between pressure and performance. It states that optimal level of arousal (pressure) is required for optimal performance. Low levels of arousal leads to boredom and high levels of arousal leads to burnout.
