Humanity is again under global health risk with the new COVID-19 variant. According to WHO: "On 26 November 2021, WHO designated the variant В.1.1.529 а variant of coпсern, патed Отіcron, of WHO's Technical Advisory Group on Virus Evolution (TAG-VE). This decision was based on the evidence presented to the TAG-VE that Omicron has several mutations that may have an impact on how it behaves, for example, on how easily it spreads or the severity of illness it causes" (nups/w.who intnews/item/28-11-2021-update-on- omicron). As a result, various countries around the globe took the initiative to prevent the spread the virus by closing their borders for foreign travelers. In the Philippines, the government is also doing the same thing even if there is no confirmed case of the said variant. But the authorities are worried that there is a on the advice high possibility that it will come here sooner or later due to flocks of OFW's and foreigners arriving and to arrive here in the country. Counter measures are being considered such as continue banning of OFW's and foreign travel going in and going out, implementing of strict lockdown, and imposing of stricter health protocols. Now, do you think that these counter measures are the right things to do in the current and probably in the foreseen spread of the omicron variant?
