Ecology is the study of the relationship between a species and its physical environment.A niche is defined as the multidimensional relationship between a species and its associated environment. The size of a niche varies between members of the same species. The evolutionary niche of a species can change over successive generations.Resources partitioning is a strategy used by organizations to divide resources in order to live successfully, reduce competition, and coexist. This is possible if the species use different resources if they coexist, or if their food is similar, for example, insects can feed on different sizes of insects. A species' niche width is the range of conditions under which it can live successfully. It is determined by biotic and abiotic factors such as climate and food supply. The proportional similarity in feeding index assesses the similarity of feeding in different species. If the similarity is high, it tends to increase competition among species, whereas if the similarity is low, it tends to reduce competition. Furthermore, if the niche width is narrow, there will be less overlap between the niches of different species, which will reduce competition.On the other hand, if the niche width is greater, there will be more overlap between niches of different conditions, resulting in more competition among species. So, if a species' niche width is small and there is a little proportional similarity in feeding, overall competition among species will be below, and the species will be a classic specialist. The species will be selected list if it has a wide niche and low proportional similarity. If the niche width is small and there is a high proportional similarity in feeding, the species is likely to be an opportunist.
