NAFTA, or the North American Free Trade Agreement, was a trade agreement signed by Canada, the US, and Mexico and came into force in 1994. It is considered to be the largest trade bloc in terms of GDP. With this agreement, the trade and investment between the US, Mexico, and Canada became is with fewer barriers. However, there are political disputes regarding employment, environment, and economic growth.
NAFTA has several disadvantages regarding economic and environmental setbacks, which affect the US and Mexico. Since it is the responsibility of the political leadership to create better policies that would be advantageous to all people, I would be concerned about NAFTA. However, during the Trump administration, NAFTA underwent some changes, and the deal's name was changed to USMCA, which is the short form of The United States Mexico Canada Agreement. The new contract included changes regarding car manufacturing, labor issues, environment, intellectual property, and digital trade.
