There is a shift to the processing of softer foods based on the tooth size reduces in homoerectus. 

In the early hominids, the specific shape of the molar cusps suggests adaptation to a  leaf and based diet.The frugivorous diet was found in Chimpanzees and bonobos .

Some of the fossil records found that the premolars of australopithecus were used to open the hard shells and they had the thick enameled teeth and also said that due to the dietary habits, hominids gained the good capacity brain like cromagnon.
