One of the prominent figures of the French Revolution was Maximilien Robespierre (1758-1794). (1789-1799). He ruled the French Republic during the Reign of Terror after becoming well-known in the extremist Jacobin Club and ordering the death of counterrevolutionary individuals. On July 28th, 1794, he was overthrown and put to death.
