Identify the proper name of the following compounds written in bold: AgCl2 Silver (II) chloride - based on other transitional metals, this seems to follow the patter Silver dichloride -, according to a NIH.gov website silver chloride - however, I think this is AgCl Zn(NO3)2 zinc (II) nitrate - again based on other transitional metals; however, some sources say it should only be zinc nitrate.  Cd(NO3)3 cadmium (III) nitrate, however, cadmium always has a charge of 2+ according to a source. I am quite confused in naming these transitional metals because according to harper college, silver always has a charge of +1, while zinc and cadmium always have a charge of +2. However, based on our experiment, we used the compounds written in bold letters and it seems that it does not follow the source. I just want to know how to properly name these compounds.

Question

Identify the proper name of the following compounds written in bold:

AgCl2

  • Silver (II) chloride - based on other transitional metals, this seems to follow the patter
  • Silver dichloride -, according to a NIH.gov website
  • silver chloride - however, I think this is AgCl

Zn(NO3)2

  • zinc (II) nitrate - again based on other transitional metals; however, some sources say it should only be zinc nitrate.

Cd(NO3)3

  • cadmium (III) nitrate, however, cadmium always has a charge of 2+ according to a source.
