When it comes to reasons why people commit such heinous acts of injustice, people have to reflect on the backgrounds of individuals who have committed the crime. Trying to understand other people's thoughts opens the sociological imagination of investigators to help understand other people. Mills even states what the truth meaning informs that “sociological imagination enables its possessor to understand the larger historical scene in terms of its meaning for the inner life and the external career of a variety of individuals (Mills 2). Finding out that sociological imagination is more than just figuring out someone but also looking back at who someone was and the history behind who they were or even who their family was, in a crime situation. People have to use their knowledge of searching why someone would think in a plausible way and then murder someone the next day, possibly shock everyone the next day. Again all people are different thought, because you have those who people will say he or she was so nice and no one would think they would do something, then you have others that people already suspected and called authorities for suspicion. In order to evaluate and assess the issues you much understand that there is more to a person then just what you see, but what is within themselves, the stuff people do not share. When searching for the reasoning behind the wrongdoing, the effects have to be discovered by analyzing thinking and exploring the information in order to break it down and understand it better. Also, having a quality of mind, from the criminal's perspective to help improve their mental health and relationships by getting all the negative out of their mind and having a guilty free conscious.
