Man is a social animal and so the desire to build social relationships is innate. When an individual finds himself in a group wherein members exhibit a high sense of belongingness, connectedness and support, they are said to be exhibiting social cohesion.
Essentially, social cohesion pertains to how strong the relationship is between the members of a group. Social cohesion is an important topic in the field of sociology as well as social psychology as it helps us understand how group dynamics work and why some groups have more unity than others. It also helps us understand why members of some groups endorse it more than others.
