Expert Solution
Introduction

The historical role of women in Western society has been largely influenced by Christianity. The book of Genesis from the Bible for instance, establishes women as secondary to man (created out of the ribs of the first man). The story of the fall of Man furthers distrust in women as Eve was the source of temptation and the original sin against God (disobedience). Such a religious representation is what made the lives of women rather subdued, particularly in Western societies. From time immemorial women therefore was reduced to her role was in supporting man, feeding him and his children, sewing their clothes when torn, washing them when they are dirty and keeping the home clean and  in good shape.
