Crusades were the religious wars between Christians and Muslims between the 11th to 13th centuries. It was also a war against Paganism and heresy. Muslims had conquered Palestine, Syria, Egypt, and Anatolia by the end of the 11th century. The First Crusade fought between 1096 and 1099 was aimed at regaining the Holy Land from the Muslims. The Second Crusade was fought between 1147 to 1150 to reclaim Edessa from Jamad al Uddin Zengi. The Third Crusade was fought between 1189 to 1192, to reconquer the Holy Land.
