Geely Auto is headquartered in Hangzhou, China, and has 22 productions plants across China as well as three assembly plants overseas. Geely Auto Group also operates five R&D centres around the world, with facilities in Ningbo, Hangzhou, Gothenburg, Coventry and Frankfurt as well as five global design centres in Shanghai, Gothenburg, Barcelona, California and Coventry. Geely has 49% interest in Proton and the other 51% is owned by DRB Hicom. Proton has two plants; in Shah Alam as well as Tanjung Malim plant which assembles the hot sellers - Proton X50 and X70 SUV. Most of the parts for both SUVs are imported from Geely China plant such as such as engine, transmission, chassis, electronics and stamped parts are shipped to Port Klang. Proton sold a total of 13,013 vehicles (domestic and export sales combined) in the month of October 2022, bringing the national carmaker's sales for the year- to-date to 115,366 units. Although slightly down on the monthly sales volume compared to the 14,872 units sold in the preceding month of September 2022,
