From the given answer sheet. Operationally define physical change from chemical change and how would you determine that chemical change occurred on the basis of the thought answer sheet.
States of Matter
The substance that constitutes everything in the universe is known as matter. Matter comprises atoms which in turn are composed of electrons, protons, and neutrons. Different atoms combine together to give rise to molecules that act as a foundation for all kinds of substances. There are five states of matter based on their energies of attraction, namely solid, liquid, gases, plasma, and BEC (Bose-Einstein condensates).
Chemical Reactions and Equations
When a chemical species is transformed into another chemical species it is said to have undergone a chemical reaction. It consists of breaking existing bonds and forming new bonds by changing the position of electrons. These reactions are best explained using a chemical equation.

![1. If magnesium ribbon is ignited what will be observed?
We observed that it burns in the air with a bright white flame.
• What will be formed after ignition?
It has formed into a white powder and upon research, it was known to be
maqnesium oxide.
• What if you add HCI what do you think will happen? What are formed?
We observed that it creates a bubble and you can see a little bit of smoke
happening. Thus, producing heat. Magnesium chloride will be formed and
hydrogen gas is liberated.
2. What about if you heat Zn metal and sulfur powder what will be formed?
It forms an inorqanic compound called Zinc sulfide.
3. What do you think will be formed when Zn added to aqueous copper (II) chloride?
ZnClz is formed as a product.
4. Operationally distinguish element from a compound. Element is a pure substance
and it is made up of only 1 type of atom such as the magnesium, Zinc, and the
sulfur powder in the experiment. While compound is a pure substance of 2 or
more elements chemically combined. HCI (Hydrogen Chloride) is made up of
hydrogen and chlorine. While MgCla (Magnesium Chloride) contains the element
of magnesium and chloride.
5. What do you think is formed when you mix Nacl crystals in water? It will form
into Na*a CI (a0)
_If yes, how? By performing an evaporation
Can you separate this? Yes , No
method. Put the solution into the evaporation dish and heat the solution using a
Bunsen burner. As the water evaporates, the NaCI will remain behind. You can
speed up the process by raising the temperature.
8. Operationally define a solution. It is a mixture of 2 or more substances. This is
formed when a solute which is the NaCl is dissolved in a solvent which is the
