Expert Solution
Psychological hedonism

Hedonism is referred to as the way of seeking pleasure or happiness in life and avoiding pain as much as possible.

Psychological hedonism: It is rooted from the theory of motivation. Psychological hedonism says that only pleasure and pain motivate us. Two types of psychological hedonism are:

  1. Inferential hedonism: A person has the ultimate desire to have pleasure in himself, not considering any other things. For example, choosing clothes to wear depends upon one's choice and it is a pleasurable moment, but prioritizing or being stubborn about a particular brand may cause  wrongness in action. It has a selfish orientation without giving much importance to others' social circumstances.
  2. Reinforcement hedonism: The ultimate desire of an individual which is not fulfilled and becomes a long-term desire, is reinforced by simply imagining that pleasure has been accomplished. For example, if one has the desire of becoming a world famous actor but he can not, he will get satisfaction through imagination or by simply dreaming about it.

Presence in the classroom is a pleasurable moment for children if the environment is more enjoyable and productive. Their actions and behavior are motivated by pleasurable moments. They seek more fun and happiness either by accepting the group or through individual activities. Inferential hedonism sometimes leads to problematic behavior. The influence of peer groups has a major role in hedonistic behavior.
