Explain The Physiology of Obesity

Excess accumulation of fat in our body is known as obesity. Obesity is caused primarily due to an unhealthy lifestyle. Eating too much and lack of physical activity leads to obesity. Certain medical conditions might also lead to obesity such as PCOD, hypothyroidism, and Cushing's syndrome.
It also increases the risk of certain diseases like heart disease, atherosclerosis, fatty liver, etc.
According to WHO, obesity is defined in terms of BMI (body mass index). Body mass index is the ratio between the square of height and weight of a person. If the ratio is greater than 30, the person is said to be obese.
Obesity leads to various types of physiological changes in our bodies. It leads to increased adipose tissue, increased levels of white fat, increased levels of low-density lipoproteins, and triglycerides.
