Qin Shi Huang (18 February 259 BC – 10 September 210 BC) was the first emperor of a united China and the founder of the Qin dynasty. He was Zheng, King of Qin from 247 to 221 BC. After the Qin destroyed all of the other Warring States and unified all of China in 221 BC, he became China's first emperor at the age of 38. From 221 BC until 210 BC, he ruled as the First Emperor of the Qin dynasty, replacing the previous Shang and Zhou monarchs who had had the title of "king". Shi Huangdi is most known for initiating the construction of China's Great Wall and an early version of the Grand Canal.
