Expert Solution
Introduction

Slavery emerged in America in the 17th century and slaves were mostly Africans. These Africans worked in tobacco and cotton fields for cultivating them. The invention of the cotton gin increased the production of cotton and so the demand for slaves enhanced. Slavery was more prevalent in the South as the south economy was reliant on agriculture while the North criticized slavery and considered it inhumane as the slaves were denied of the right to freedom.
