As the plants contain a cell wall, they form cell plates and animals lack a cell wall, so they do not form a cell plate. During the Metaphase of cell division, vesicles align in the middle of the cell, they fuse together and then fuses with the plasma membrane of the cell. On the other hand, in animals, a contractile ring that is made up of protein filaments spans the equator of the cells and then cleaves the cell in half.
