Does Y chromosome play a role in sex determination ?

A biological system that controls the development of sexual traits in an organism is known as a sex-determination system. There are two sexes in the majority of creatures that reproduce sexually.
Hermaphrodites can be found in a few species. Parthenogenesis, or the process of a female reproducing without fertilization, has also resulted in some animals being only one sex.
Each parent contributes one chromosome per pair to the human genome, which is divided into 23 pairs (22 pairs of autosomes and one pair of sex chromosomes). The X and Y chromosomes, often known as sex chromosomes, determine an individual's biological sex: girls inherit an X chromosome from their father, resulting in a XX genotype, and males inherit a Y chromosome from their father, resulting in an XY genotype. Because it contains the genes required to override the biological default - female development - and cause the development of the male reproductive system, the presence or absence of the Y chromosome is crucial.
