The Pilgrims and the Puritans were the religious reformers who questioned the Church of England's orthodox practices. Both the sects were against the discriminatory practices followed by the Church. They challenged the supremacy of the clergy class in all religious matters. They proposed that the spiritual trials should be conducted according to the Bible and not according to the clergy class's will.
