In 1760, following the signing the Treaty of Paris, virtually all of North America that had been French, was suddenly British. The might have been the beginning of long standing British control over a vast empire based on raw materials, agriculture and manufacturing connected by unfettered Atlantic trade. Yet in less than a decade revolution was in in the air. Britain had established 13 colonies in North America in the initial phase of their colonization of that continent. These were settled my settlers from all over Europe , but the colonies were governed by British laws. Due to multiple reasons the Americans revolted against the British rule that caused the American Revolutionary War that started in 1775 and lasted till 1783. End of this war led to the formations of USA as a separate country with its own Constitution.
